Last week President Biden announced a “full” US withdrawal from Afghanistan – the longest war in US history … While this announcement is to be welcomed, the delayed US withdrawal may result in Americans and Afghans dying needlessly for good PR optics back home … The Taliban have kept their end of the “Doha Agreement” signed under then-President Trump: no Americans have been killed in Afghanistan for more than a year. However, the US side under President Biden will formally violate the Agreement by keeping US troops in-country after May 1 … A recent article in the Military Times lays out the massive disaster of the US two-decade war on Afghanistan: more than two trillion dollars spent … Even worse, the Cost of War Project has estimated that a quarter of a million people have been killed in the war.

The US government has spent over $2.26 trillion on its failed war in Afghanistan, according to the latest numbers from Brown University’s Costs of War Project. The report also estimates that the war has directly killed 241,000 people in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The $2.26 trillion in spending was broken down into five categories. The single greatest expense was $933 billion, which was covered by the Defense Department’s Overseas Contingency Operations Budget. The second-highest cost is the estimated interest accrued by borrowing money for the war, which accounts for $530 billion … The report estimates that out of the 241,000 people killed by the war, 71,344 were civilians, including 47,245 in Afghanistan and 24,099 in Pakistan.

Last [Thursday] night, in the heart of Jerusalem, hundreds of Jewish supremacists, chanting “Death to Arabs,” attacked Palestinian passers-by; some 78 Palestinians were injured and 15 were hospitalized … In a surprise, the New York Times did report on the attack. Isabel Kershner’s article was itself biased … At least the Times did cover the ugly episode; so far, not a word in the Washington Post, or on National Public Radio … The Times article’s larger failure is that it continued the paper’s pattern of protecting Israel’s reputation by covering up or downplaying the ugly far right-wing element in the country. In the last election for the Knesset in March, a political party called “Jewish Power” got enough votes to elect its leader, Itamar Ben-Gvir.

How can America unite again to do great things if we are led by people who believe America suffers from a great sickness of the soul, an original sin that dates back to her birth as a nation? … Our president and vice president are saying that this people and country still suffer from a sickness of the soul that dates back to its formative days … Black men, ages 16 to 40, are three percent of the U.S. population but commit roughly a third of America’s violent crimes … What Clinton, Biden and Harris are all saying is that, though the moral sickness of racism pervades our society, we are the vaccinated ones.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said Wednesday that racial equity is a top focus for her as “white supremacy is weaved into our founding documents and principles” in the U.S. “When we raise issues of equity and justice at the global scale we have to approach them with humility,” Thomas-Greenfield said … “We have to acknowledge that we are an imperfect union and have been since the beginning and every day we strive to make ourselves more perfect.” … “I’ve seen for myself how the original sin of slavery weaved white supremacy into our founding documents and principles,” Thomas-Greenfield said. She added that … white supremacy led to the “senseless killing” of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and “so many other black Americans.”

Human Rights Watch said Tuesday that Israel is committing the crime of “apartheid” by seeking to maintain Jewish “domination” over Palestinians and its own Arab population, an allegation fiercely denounced by Israel … HRW said its finding that Israel is “committing the crimes against humanity of apartheid and persecution” against Palestinians was based on robust sourcing including government planning materials and statements by public officials. The 213-page report finds that the Israeli government is the “single authority” with primary control “over the area between the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea”. Within that territory, there is “an overarching Israeli government policy to maintain the domination by Jewish Israelis over Palestinians,” HRW said.

The Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902 was more than the first major military clash of the 20th century. Pitting as it did the might of the globe-girdling British Empire, backed by international finance, against a small pioneering nation of independent-minded farmers, ranchers and merchants in southern Africa who lived by the Bible and the rifle, its legacy continues to resonate today. The Boers’ recourse to irregular warfare, and Britain’s response in herding a hundred thousand women and children into concentration camps foreshadowed the horrors of guerilla warfare and mass detention of innocents that have become emblematic of the 20th century.

A CNN staffer can be seen in a newly released undercover video calling out his own network for “propaganda” and boasting that the cable news giant successfully removed former President Donald Trump from office. “Look at what we did, we got Trump out,” Charles Chester, a network technical director at CNN, said to an undercover journalist from the political action group Project Veritas in a tape released Tuesday … Chester spoke to the undercover reporter in several clips in which he bragged that he was “one step down” from a director … Now that Trump has been removed from office, Chester says the network will move on to pushing climate change and asked if that meant the network would try to scare viewers with gloomy climate warnings, Chester said, “Yeah. Fear sells.”

Jewish groups and leaders took to social media following the Derek Chauvin verdict with expressions of relief, joy — and calls for systemic change in the wake of the trial. “Thank God justice has been served in this case,” Rabbi Jill Jacobs, executive director of T’ruah, a rabbinic organization for human rights, tweeted. “And there’s so much work to do to fix the racist systems that led to this murder and so many others.” Former Minneapolis police officer Chauvin was convicted on all counts for the murder of George Floyd … The Anti-Defamation League said in a statement that the verdict is a “critically necessary first step” … “It is a long time past for our country to tackle systemic racism, reimagine what public safety looks like, and create transformational change to ensure justice and fair treatment for all people,” the ADL statement said.

Israeli settlers chanting “Death to Arabs” marched through the streets of Jerusalem Thursday night, attacking Palestinians, including Palestinian worshipers who were on their way to pray at the al-Aqsa Mosque for Ramadan prayers. The settlers were part of a right-wing Israeli group called Lehava, which organized the attack march with the stated aim of “restoring Jewish dignity” by “breaking the faces of Arabs” … The right-wing attackers plowed through the counter-protesters, and headed toward the Palestinian neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, where they slashed car tires of dozens of Palestinian vehicles on Al-Mutran Street. Israeli soldiers joined in the attack on the Palestinian civilians and counter-protesters, attacking the Palestinians with ‘skunk water’ sprayed from trucks, tear gas and rubber-coated steel bullets.

Palestinians in Jerusalem are reeling from a night of racist, anti-Arab violence that left over a hundred Palestinians wounded and dozens detained, following an ultra-right wing Israeli demonstration in the city. On Thursday evening hundreds of Israelis marched from the Zion Gate outside the Old City to the Damascus Gate area — the entrance to the Muslim Quarter of the Old City — as part of demonstrations organized by the far-right, anti-Palestinian group Lehava. During the march, which was advertised as a demonstration to “restore Jewish dignity” to the city, crowds of Israelis chanted various anti-Palestinian slogans, including “Death to Arabs” and “may your village burn.” According to Israeli media, the march was widely publicized on social media in the days leading up to Thursday, with many of the Israeli activists calling for violence …

… Backed by their representatives now sitting in the Knesset, hundreds of supporters of the Kahanist organization responded to the call, arriving in the area with the stated goal of attacking Arabs (or alternatively, leftists). They marched toward the Damascus Gate while chanting “death to Arabs,” turning Thursday into most violent night Jerusalem has known in years. We, the left-wing activists of Jerusalem, also showed up to try and counter-balancer the fascists as they marched through the city streets … To remember the young man with the yarmulke arguing with a Palestinian on the other side of a police barricade before telling him: “We will slaughter you all, you know we will kill you one by one.”

Joe Biden has become the first US president to issue a statement formally describing the 1915 massacre of Armenians as a genocide. The killings took place in the waning days of the Ottoman Empire, the forerunner of modern-day Turkey. But the issue is highly sensitive, with Turkey acknowledging atrocities but rejecting the term “genocide”. Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Saturday that Turkey “entirely rejects” the US decision … Ottoman Turks had accused Christian Armenians of treachery after suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of Russian forces and began deporting them en masse to the Syrian desert and elsewhere. Hundreds of thousands of Armenians were massacred or died from starvation or disease.

After Israel’s ambassador to Ukraine condemned the honoring of Nazi collaborators in the former Soviet republic, dozens of people rallied outside the Israeli Embassy in Kyiv demanding that Jews apologize for Soviet oppression. The far-right activists called on Israel and the Jews to assume responsibility specifically for Holodomor, a famine that killed millions of Ukrainians in the 1930s … The action was in response to Israeli Ambassador Joel Lion’s tweet Saturday in which he condemned a torchlight march in memory of Stepan Bandera, a World War II Ukrainian leader … Ultranationalists in Ukraine and beyond have often blamed Jews for Holodomor, citing the support of many Jews for communism and the prominent positions of power that some of Jewish origins achieved under its rule in the Soviet Union …

Jews played a highly disproportionate and probably decisive role in the infant Bolshevik regime, effectively dominating the Soviet government during its early years … With the notable exception of Lenin, most of the leading Communists who took control of Russia in 1917-20 were Jews … The US ambassador in Russia warned in a dispatch to Washington: “The Bolshevik leaders here, most of whom are Jews and 90 percent of whom are returned exiles, care little for Russia or any other country but are internationalists and they are trying to start a worldwide social revolution.”

… The fact is that much of Bolshevik state atheism was driven by the large overrepresentation of Jews in the party in its formative days … Dutch Ambassador William Oudendyke echoed that sentiment, writing that “Unless Bolshevism is nipped in the bud immediately, it is bound to spread in one form or another over Europe and the whole world as it is organized and worked by Jews who have no nationality, and whose one object is to destroy for their own ends the existing order of things.” … Jews notably played a particularly disproportionate role in the Soviet secret police … The Communist diaspora in Europe and America was also largely Jewish, including the cabal of founders of neo-conservativism in New York City. The United States Communist Party was from the start predominantly Jewish.

In a landmark enforcement action that tackles the very bedrock of Israel’s fraudulent binary options industry, the US Securities and Exchange Commission has filed fraud charges against SpotOption, a company at the heart of the multi-year scam that has defrauded victims worldwide out of billions, and against two of its top executives. The SEC on Friday charged the Ramat Gan-based SpotOption, which provided the platforms for a significant number of the hundreds of firms that perpetrated the global fraud … with defrauding US investors out of over $100 million through “fraudulent and unregistered online sales of risky securities known as binary options.” It further alleges SpotOption used “deceptive and manipulative” tactics, including rigging the trading platforms, to make certain that investors lost money.

The US Postal Service is running a shadowy surveillance program that tracks Americans’ social media posts — including ones about planned right-wing protests, a report revealed Thursday. The so-called Internet Covert Operations Program enlists the law enforcement arm of the USPS to hunt down “inflammatory” posts — made by groups ranging from the Proud Boys to demonstrators protesting coronavirus lockdowns … Posts deemed threatening are then sent to federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to be monitored, the outlet reported. “Locations and times have been identified for these protests, which are being distributed online across multiple social media platforms, to include right-wing leaning Parler and Telegram accounts,” says a government bulletin, marked as law enforcement-sensitive on March 16.

… For the better part of the last twenty years, Israeli leaders have warned about possible Iranian proliferation that never happens while they remain proudly outside the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and possess a nuclear arsenal with an estimated 90 warheads and enough fissile material for another 200. The real rogue nuclear-weapons state in the region has been the one sounding a false alarm about Iran’s nuclear program. Then it opposed a diplomatic solution that resolves the nuclear issue to the satisfaction of everyone else. As if that weren’t bad enough, it has also been conducting terrorist attacks against Iranian scientists and it has been sabotaging Iranian infrastructure in a bid to trigger a conflict … If Iran had been intent on acquiring nuclear weapons, it could have done so by now.

The law enforcement arm of the U.S. Postal Service has been quietly running a program that tracks and collects Americans’ social media posts, including those about planned protests, according to a document obtained by Yahoo News. The details of the surveillance effort, known as iCOP, or Internet Covert Operations Program, have not previously been made public. The work involves having analysts trawl through social media sites to look for what the document describes as “inflammatory” postings and then sharing that information across government agencies.

Project Veritas released a new video today exposing CNN Director Charlie Chester, who admitted that his network engaged in propaganda to benefit Biden’s candidacy during the 2020 election to the detriment of then-President Trump. Chester also said CNN has a pre-determined agenda when reporting on COVID-19 and climate change. During a conversation with a Veritas journalist, Chester boasted about the impact the network had in determining the outcome of the presidential race last year. “Look what we did, we [CNN] got Trump out.” … Chester explained to the Veritas journalist how CNN engaged in “propaganda” when covering Trump’s health compared to Biden’s health.

Project Veritas continued its undercover-video attack on CNN Thursday, releasing another secretly-recorded clip of loose-lipped technical director Charles Chester admitting the network is “trying to help” Black Lives Matter. Chester made the admission while discussing his own apparent reservations over the network making isolated incidents of black-on-Asian hate crimes reflect poorly on all black people … Project Veritas released two other tapes showing Chester saying that CNN played up Covid-19 death toll for ratings, and that the network promoted anti-Trump “propaganda.” … CNN avoids racial issues unless it somehow directly implicates white people, Chester says in the clip.

Well, the cat is finally well and truly out of the bag when it comes to Israeli and organized Jewry’s hypocrisy. The unprincipled attack on Tucker Carlson by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) over his alleged “white supremacism” included a demand to Fox News that he be fired … The lead organization in shaping the acceptable narrative is the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which promotes itself as “Fighting Hate for Good.” In other words, anyone on the other side of the narrative is by definition a “hater.” … Tucker made the point that apparently what is good for Israel is not allowable for the United States. American Jews are undeniably the leading political force trying to create a multicultural United States, while hypocritically believing that their co-religionists should retain all power in Israel … This is beyond hypocritical, as Tucker suggests …

Anti-Defamation League (ADL) CEO Jonathan Greenblatt on Tuesday asked advertisers to pull their ads from Fox News and its prime-time show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” in a speech to the World Federation of Advertisers. “Choose to pause or even pull your ads not just from problematic programs but altogether from networks that don’t respect all people or that repeat baseless conspiracies that endanger all of us,” Greenblatt said. Greenblatt was referring to comments Carlson made in a Fox News segment less than two weeks ago when the Fox host said that Democrat immigration policies could be designed to dilute the voting power of Americans. Shortly after that segment aired, Greenblatt and the ADL said that Carlson needed to be fired because his comments mirrored a white supremacist tenet called the “great replacement” theory.

Dozens of people were injured when violent clashes erupted at the Damascus Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem late Thursday as Palestinian protesters confronted a group of some 300 extreme-right Jewish activists who marched to the scene chanting “Death to Arabs.” Police, trying to keep the groups apart, also clashed with the Palestinians, who threw rocks at the officers. Officers used riot dispersal means including stun grenades, tear gas and water cannons to break up the Arab protestors … At least 100 Palestinians were injured, including 21 who were hospitalized, the Palestinian Red Crescent said … Video posted to social media from the scene also showed Jewish youths attack an Arab home just inside the Old City … The clashes came a day after running street battles between Jews and Arabs in downtown Jerusalem.

A mainstream daily in the Netherlands has apologized for a caricature depicting a Jewish political pollster and entrepreneur as a puppet master. Pieter Klok, editor in chief of De Volkskrant, issued a statement Monday saying the image and trope “recall too many memories of anti-Semitic caricatures of the Nazi period and therefore should never have been published.” The caricature, featured on the cover of the left-wing paper’s culture supplement Monday, depicted a leering Maurice de Hond holding a set of marionette strings. The article focused on a media campaign led by de Hond on behalf of a murderer he said was wrongly convicted in 1999. Critics of the caricature included a previous leader of the Dutch Labor party, Lodewijk Asccher, who has Jewish roots and has been the target of anti-Semitic rhetoric.

As the federal government hints it could criminalise the sale of Nazi memorabilia, a Jewish father and son were escorted out of a Perth auction house after they attempted to watch a selection of Adolf Hitler’s personal items go under the hammer. The pair, who The AJN has chosen not to name, were told police might be called if they didn’t leave the premises. They had arrived at JB Military Antiques on Sunday to see several items purportedly owned by the Nazi leader auctioned, including a cigarette box, decanter, gravy boat and hairbrush. The cigarette box sold for $29,000, his tableware collection went for $25,000 and his hairbrush fetched $19,000. The auction has prompted renewed calls for the sale of Nazi memorabilia to be banned, with Defence Minister Peter Dutton signalling a possible change in legislation.

Three of Prince Philip’s German relatives were among the small UK crowd of people who attended his funeral on Saturday, their presence due to his specific request for that side of his family to be represented despite its past Nazi connections … Prince Philipp and Bernhard are descendants of Prince Philip’s sisters, whose marriages to German aristocracy caused awkwardness after World War II due to some of them being members of the Nazi party. Prince Donatus’s grandfather, Philip’s cousin, was also a Nazi party member … His youngest sister, Princess Sophie, married Prince Christoph of Hesse, a German SS officer, in 1930 … While Philip would later go on to serve as an officer in the Royal Navy during World War II, two of his brothers-in-law fought with the German forces.

… Years ago, I was struck by the way various sorts of political “progressives” — Communists, socialists, liberals, “civil libertarians,” “moderates,” “pragmatists” — all spontaneously cooperated with each other. It wasn’t a conspiracy; there was obviously no central direction. But the pattern was too clear to be denied … Liberalism, I saw, was the retail version of the society of which Communism was the wholesale version. Liberals don’t speak (or think, as a rule) of outright revolution; they move one step at a time, always edging toward the socialist model of an egalitarian centralized state … Like bees, they swarm against enemies of (or perceived threats to) their Hive … The Hive especially hates anti-Communism and traditional Christianity.

… Israel is based on the principle that Jews have rights “goyim” don’t have. Hence its abuse of Arab gentiles and its defiance of Western gentiles. Mark Weber, of the Institute for Historical Review, has summed up the situation in one pithy sentence: “The truth is that if we held Israel to the same standards that we apply to Serbia, Afghanistan, and Iraq, U.S. bombers and missiles would be blasting Tel Aviv, and we’d be putting Israeli prime minister Sharon behind bars for war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

Why does J Street keep honoring and defending individuals who have made anti-Semitic remarks? The latest is former President Jimmy Carter, who will receive an award from J Street at its upcoming convention on April 18 … Referring to the media appearances by Carter in 2006 in which he repeatedly suggested that all criticism of his book emanated from attempts by Jews to control the media and silence him … On “Meet the Press” on Dec. 3, 2006, Carter specifically singled out what he called “the Jewish lobby” as “part” of the alleged conspiracy to silence him. Before Carter, J Street’s favorite ex-politician was James Baker. The former Secretary of State … was also reliably reported to have said: “Jews remember the Holocaust, but they forget insults as soon as they smell cash.”

The many controversial issues concerning Palestine and the path to peace for Israel are intensely debated among Israelis and throughout other nations — but not in the United States. For the past 30 years, I have witnessed and experienced the severe restraints on any free and balanced discussion of the facts. This reluctance to criticise policies of the Israeli government is due to the extraordinary lobbying efforts of the American-Israel Political Action Committee and the absence of any significant contrary voices.

An Austrian police officer received a suspended prison sentence of ten months for posting the apparent favourite food of Adolf Hitler. The man, who has not been identified, shared the photograph on Facebook last year, on April 20, Hitler’s birthdate. “Lunch today! Egg dumplings with green salad!” the man posted, together with a photo … According to a 2016 report by Vice Germany, the dish may be used as a thinly-veiled code by neo-Nazis … He was given a ten-month suspended prison sentence and fined 6,300 euros ($9,500) at a regional court in Eisenstadt, eastern Austria … The man was charged under the Verbotsgesetz 1947, also known as the Prohibition Act 1947, which aims to put an end to Nazi propaganda.

A historian lionized by far-right groups in Lithuania for glorifying collaborators with the occupying Nazis during World War II is set become the new director of the country’s state-sponsored Lithuanian Genocide and Resistance Research Center (LGGRTC). Dr. Arūnas Bubnys was nominated for the post on Wednesday by Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, the Speaker of Lithuania’s parliament, the Seimas … Experts on the slaughter of nearly 200,000 Jews in Lithuania — the overwhelming majority — during the Nazi Holocaust decried the appointment of Bubnys, charging him with glorifying the pro-German puppet regime that ruled following the Nazi invasion of 1941, as well as deliberately minimizing the role played by Lithuanian collaborators during the Holocaust.

A number of items purportedly owned by Adolf Hitler have been made available to the public by a Western Australian auction house, with the Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) charging that their sale glorifies the Nazi leader. Among the objects JB Military Antiques put on the auction block were a cigarette box, decanter, ice bucket, gravy boat and hairbrush, a number of which it touted as “exceptional and very rare” … The items feature Nazi insignia and the initials “AH” for Adolf Hitler. The ADC, which has been pushing to outlaw the sale of Nazi memorabilia, described the auction as “perverse and twisted” … “If Hitler was alive today, he would be thanking JB Military Antiques and applauding their lurid trade, delighted that his legacy is being mainstreamed and promoted in Australia,” ADC chair Dvir Abramovich said in a statement.

In an earlier piece, we explored some country case study examples of how the press helps to manufacture consent for regime change and other US actions abroad among left-leaning audiences, a traditionally conflict-skeptical group. Some level of buy-in, or at least a hesitancy to resist, among the United States’ more left-leaning half is necessary to ensure that US interventions are carried out with a minimum of domestic opposition. To this end, corporate media invoke the language of human rights and humanitarianism to convince those to the left of center to accept, if not support, US actions abroad … What follows are some of the common tropes used by establishment outlets to convince skeptical leftists that this time, things might be different, selling a progressive intervention everyone can get behind.

America is regressing to have the economic and political structure of a developing nation, an MIT economist has warned. Peter Temin says the world’s’ largest economy has roads and bridges that look more like those in Thailand and Venezuela than those in parts of Europe. In his new [2017] book, “The Vanishing Middle Class”, reviewed by the Institute for New Economic Thinking, Mr Temin says the fracture of US society is leading the middle class to disappear. The economist describes a two-track economy with on the one hand 20 per cent of the population that is educated and enjoys good jobs and supportive social networks. On the other hand, the remaining 80 per cent, he said, are part of the US’ low-wage sector, where the world of possibility has shrunk and people are burdened with debts and anxious about job security.

Like many Holocaust survivors, I’ve always felt uncomfortable about the way the memory of the Holocaust has been shaped. The myth of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising is an excellent example. The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising – the very name is deceptive. The Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto never revolted … Only a small group of young people revolted, whose size and efforts were inflated to mythic proportions in Israel after the state was established in 1948. More importantly, the uprising, which started on April 19, 1943, contradicted the survival strategy of the masses of Jews who remained in the ghetto … The figures on the length of the real fighting were also inflated.

Each year, around April 19, the media and politicians commemorate what they call the Warsaw ghetto ‘uprising,’ ‘revolt’ or ‘insurrection.’ In journalistic accounts the affair has taken on increasingly epic and symbolic proportions. At a Holocaust ceremony in New York in April 1993, American Vice President Al Gore declared: ‘The story of the Warsaw ghetto is sacred text for our time.’ In fact, this ‘story’ is a legend based only partially on historical reality.

It is probably the single most widely recognized and memorable Holocaust image of all: a frightened and apparently doomed young boy, his arms upraised, standing with other Warsaw ghetto Jews under the watch of an armed German soldier … Contrary to legend, though, the “ghetto boy” was not killed. He survived wartime internment in Warsaw and in a German concentration camp. Several decades after it was taken, a New York physician, Tsvi C. Nussbaum, revealed that he was the lad in the famous photograph.

Young women fighters rounded up during the 1943 German action against the Warsaw ghetto are shown in this widely-reproduced photograph. Like the famous “ghetto boy” photo, this was included in the 1943 “Stroop report.” The original caption read: “Women of the He-halutz movement, captured with weapons.” … The young woman at the right is Malka Zdrojewicz. Years later, she recalled the circumstance behind the taking of this photograph.

… [Canadian premier William] Mackenzie King … set off, a few months after his encounter with Mr Cohen, to meet Chancellor Adolf Hitler of Germany [June 1937]. And here are the reflections of Canada’s prime minister on the Führer … “My sizing up of the man as I sat and talked with him was that he is really one who truly loves his fellow man. His face is much more prepossessing than his pictures would give the impression of. It is not that of a fiery overstrained nature but of a calm, passive man deeply and thoughtfully in earnest … His eyes impressed me most of all. There was a liquid quality about them which indicates keen perception and profound sympathy. Calm, composed and one could see how particularly humble folk would have come to have profound love for the man. As I talked with him I could not but think of Joan of Arc …”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will issue a formal apology next month for the treatment of Italian-Canadians during the Second World War. The government said in a news release that 600 Italian-Canadian men were interned in camps in Canada after Italy allied with Germany and joined the war in 1940. Some 31,000 other Italian-Canadians were declared enemy aliens. Trudeau told the House of Commons Wednesday that his government “will right these wrongs” by issuing a formal apology in May. In 1988, Canada formally apologized and offered $300 million in compensation to Japanese-Canadians, 22,000 of whom were interned in camps during the Second World War … “During the Second World War, hundreds of Italian-Canadians were interned for the simple reason that they were of Italian heritage,” Iacono told the Commons.

In The Culture of Critique, Kevin MacDonald advances a carefully researched but extremely controversial thesis: that certain 20th century intellectual movements – largely established and led by Jews – have changed European societies in fundamental ways and destroyed the confidence of Western man. He claims that these movements were designed, consciously or unconsciously, to advance Jewish interests even though they were presented to non-Jews as universalistic and even utopian. He concludes that the increasing dominance of these ideas has had profound political and social consequences that benefited Jews but caused great harm to gentile societies.

How have Jews acquired such great power and influence in the United States? … Should we be surprised? Well, no. Biden is just following in the footsteps of his predecessors. Given the long, sorry record of US perfidy, the Taliban shouldn’t be surprised either … Abroad, the US government takes a similar tack, always treating other parties’ agreed obligations as non-negotiable and its own such obligations as optional. The Non-Proliferation Treaty requires the US to work toward getting rid of its nuclear arsenal. Instead, recent administrations have gone in the other direction with a focus on “modernizing” that arsenal, while demanding that the Iranian regime go beyond its NPT obligations … then defaulting on its end of THAT deal, too. … At this point, no one should be surprised when the US government lies. It would be far more surprising if Joe Biden told the truth for once.

The real distinction between 2021 and, say, 1951, is the internal character of the US itself … The US was a stable, churchgoing society of low immigration and consensus politics … [Now] public confidence in the federal government is measurably low. The most recent memories of external conflict are unglorious … Republican-Democratic consensus has dissolved into probably the most vicious partisanship of any rich democracy. America’s enemies call it decadence … It was a trusting and cohesive population that first rallied against the Soviets. It was a nation liberalised by the 1960s that forced detente and the winding down of the conflict. Track the social change to the present day, and the implications are clear.

… Why did we fail? Our enemies, the Taliban, motivated by a religious faith many would call fanaticism, were more willing to sacrifice, suffer, fight, bleed, and die for longer than we or our Afghan allies … It is their country, after all, not ours. It is everything to them, not so much to us. They are steeped in the traditional Afghan hostility to foreigners and hatred of those who come to their land to tell them how they should live and rule themselves. The Taliban captured the flags of anti-colonialism, nationalism, and Islamic fundamentalism … Yet Afghanistan is only one of the “forever wars” into which our interventionists plunged us that have proven so ruinous to the republic … For a generation now, we have been stomping barefoot on anthills and throwing rocks into bees’ nests across the Middle and Near East.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson fired back at the [Zionist] ADL [“Anti-Defamation League”] Monday night in a segment which cited Israel and the ADL’s position on Arab immigration to the Jewish state … Carlson went on to name several countries which strictly regulate immigration to protect their ethnic identity, and pointed to the ADL’s defense of Israel’s Law of Return, which applies only to Jews and their descendants … The [ADL] essay, quoted on the segment, explains the ADL’s opposition to turning Israel into a bi-national Jewish-Arab state … “From Israel’s perspective, this makes perfect sense,” Carlson said. … “Maybe ADL President Jonathan Greenblatt will join us sometime to explain whether that same principle applies to the United States.”

… The best part about Tucker’s monologue was that he confronted the ADL directly by highlighting their lack of principle. Confronting any powerful Jewish organization is virtually unheard of in American media and political culture where groveling, apologies, and firing are the norm … In fact, these activist Jews are consummate ethnic nationalists — exactly what they condemn in White Americans … The ADL thinks that Jews … should retain sovereignty in Israel because ceding sovereignty would be dangerous for Jews. This is massively hypocritical, as Tucker implies, and he invited Greenblatt on his show to explain why the same principles that he champions for Israel should not exist in the United States.

… The same people who so vehemently call for Israel to be Jewish lack that same vigor when calling for France to be French, Germany to be German, or Sweden to be Swedish … Those same Zionists, by and large, fight against the nationalist sentiments in Europe … They are the same groups that push for the death of Europe and her people … He is a hypocrite because he wants his country, the US, to protect the nationalist and ethno-centric aspirations of Israel, his homeland, but not those of Europe … The peculiar position of these Jews is not so much in their exclusive nationalist desires for one state. It is in their exclusive denial of such nationalist rights to the peoples of Europe. For some strange reason, there is a hate for the European race, and that hate translates into a desire for its ultimate destruction.

Bernard Madoff, the infamous architect of an epic securities swindle that burned thousands of investors, outfoxed regulators and earned him a 150-year prison term, died behind bars early Wednesday. He was 82 … For decades, Madoff enjoyed an image as a self-made financial guru whose Midas touch defied market fluctuations. … But his investment advisory business was exposed in 2008 as a Ponzi scheme that wiped out people’s fortunes and ruined charities. He became so hated he wore a bulletproof vest to court. The fraud was believed to be the largest in Wall Street’s history … Madoff was born in 1938 in a lower-middle-class Jewish neighborhood in Queens.

In February 2021, most Americans and Iranians said that they supported the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the six major world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). But Iranians were skeptical that the United States would ever fully comply with the accord, which President Donald Trump abandoned in 2018. Most Iranians – 62 percent – said that their government should not negotiate a separate agreement on Iran’s missile program even if the Biden administration returned to the JCPOA and lifted sanctions.

… In short, when it comes to Ukraine, Russia has demonstrated that it has its own red lines, which it will back up with military action. The U.S. and NATO, however, have shown repeatedly that while they will give moral support and provide military aid to Ukraine, they are not going to fight Russia over Ukraine, or to wrest Crimea or the Donbass from Putin’s control. A similar test is taking place in the South and East China seas … U.S. policy in both cases seems to be one of “strategic ambiguity,” leaving the issue open as to what we would do … Should we fight for Ukraine, how many NATO allies would be there beside us? And should we fight to keep Taiwan free, how many Asian allies would fight China alongside us? Recent actions by Putin and Xi make the questions no longer academic.

… The current epoch of finance capitalism has run its course. Its logic has been lost. The threats to the neoliberal order are now internal to it. Bi-partisan claims that China is a growing economic and military threat to the U.S. places economic competition within the national frame that American capitalists have spent the last five decades arguing is no longer relevant because of globalization. This posture of a unified national interest follows several decades of American industrialists cum financiers doing everything they can to concentrate wealth and power for themselves. Now, having done so, the frame of ‘nation’ is being opportunistically reasserted to claim a unified national interest to oppose ‘foreign’ competition.

President Joe Biden’s administration is being pressed by a key Democratic lawmaker, Rep. Elissa Slotkin, to consider designating white supremacist groups overseas as foreign terrorists subject to U.S. government actions … Slotkin, a former CIA analyst who chairs a U.S. House subcommittee focusing on intelligence and counterterrorism … The State Department took a first step last year toward putting pressure on white supremacists overseas by designating the Russian Imperial Movement and three of its leaders Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs). It was the first-ever such designation. Slotkin welcomed this step but wrote: “It’s time for more to be done.”

The US government has formally designated the Russian Imperial Movement (RIM) – a small Christian monarchist outfit based in St. Petersburg – as a terrorist organization, and has imposed sanctions on the group and its leaders. This characterization is groundless and hypocritical … Pompeo justifies the designation by claiming that the Russian group’s activities “threaten the national security and foreign policy of the United States.” He provides no evidence whatsoever to support this far-fetched assertion. Pompeo misrepresents the group’s principles and activities … The US government’s action against this little-known Russian group seems to be more a publicity gesture by a beleaguered administration than a serious effort to counter any real threat.

Georgia’s law intended to thwart the anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement is being challenged in federal court by a documentary filmmaker whose invitation to speak at Georgia Southern University was withdrawn when she would not pledge to refrain from boycotts against Israel … Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed SB 327 into law on April 26, 2016. The law amended the Georgia code “to prohibit the state from entering into certain contracts with an individual or company unless such contracts contain a certification that such individual or company does not presently conduct a boycott of Israel, and will not conduct such a boycott for the duration of such contract … Similar anti-BDS laws exist in 28 states, either passed by legislatures or enacted by executive order.

The Netherlands’ foremost philosopher called the dispersal of Jews in the Diaspora a “blessing” because it prevented them from achieving the power they have in Israel today that has resulted in “religiously motivated violence.” Hans Achterhuis, the first recipient of the prestigious and royally recognized title of “thinker of the Fatherland,” made the remarks in an interview on the role of religion in the modern state … His comment provoked outrage by Jewish community representatives and Israel’s ambassador to the Netherlands …

In early 1995 a major Japanese magazine, Marco Polo, was forced to shut down because it had published a ten-page article disputing the orthodox Holocaust extermination story. Jewish organizations responded with an international boycott campaign, promptly pressuring major corporations into cancelling advertising … A few months later … the first book-length Japanese-language presentation of Holocaust revisionism appeared in Nippon’s bookstores. “The Auschwitz Debate” (Aushuvittsu no souten) … Author Aiji Kimura, born in 1937, is an investigative journalist [who died on Dec. 17, 2020] … An assiduous researcher, Kimura has conducted his own on-site investigation of the alleged gas chambers at Birkenau and Auschwitz …

… The book’s subtitle is The Mystery of Robert Maxwell, and there are mysteries aplenty. Born in 1923 as Jan – or was it Ludvik? – Hoch into a large Jewish family in the village of Solotvino, in what was then Czechoslovakia, he left home at 16 to join the resistance to the Nazis … His treatment of the rest of the family was shocking. … Staff were treated equally badly … Margaret Thatcher and President George Bush were swift to offer condolences … the former Israeli president Shimon Peres declared him “not a man but an empire in his power, thought and deeds” … Within months of his death it became clear that pension funds had been looted, banks defrauded and £763 million was missing … There is no shortage of evidence of Maxwell’s duplicity elsewhere …

There were few public figures in twentieth century British affairs so huge and dominant as newspaper and business tycoon Robert Maxwell … Rarely have I read a factual account so compulsive and exciting … Maxwell’s life ended in 1991, when he fell/ jumped from his yacht, the Lady Ghislaine, in the face of financial ruin and scandal, having effectively embezzled the pension fund of the Mirror Group newspaper conglomerate that he owned, to the tune of many millions of pounds, in a desperate attempt to shore up his flailing business empire … His personal life was an equally megalomaniac roadway to hell, where the bodies of his family, business associates and friends, lay littered in the ditches … His personal habits were boorish and cruel: he dominated his own children with humiliating words and vicious shouting matches …

… But after the year 2000, something happened. The mortality rates for middle-age white, non-Hispanic people without a college degree stopped declining. And then they went up. These people weren’t dying of an infectious disease or a violent global war; they were dying of suicide, drug overdoses, and alcoholic liver disease and cirrhosis, or what Case and Deaton call “deaths of despair.” The authors note that in 2017 alone, 158,000 Americans died these “deaths of despair.” … Simply put, the white working class is dying at an unprecedented rate. It is hard to say why with any certainty … For the last 50 years, their wages have stagnated. If you were in this cohort, your median earnings lost 13 percent of their purchasing power between 1979 and 2017, while the national income grew by 85 percent.

A former UK foreign office minister has accused pro-Israel lobbyists of “the most disgusting interference” in British public life, and of negatively influencing the country’s foreign policy in the Middle East. Alan Duncan, a former Conservative MP and government minister until 2019, wrote in his newly published memoir that the Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI) had been responsible for pushing the country to adopt disproportionately anti-Palestinian and pro-Israel policies … “A lot of things do not happen in foreign policy or in government for fear of offending them because that’s the way it’s put to them by the CFI,” he said. “It’s a sort of buried scandal that has to stop… they will interfere at a high level in British politics in the interests of Israel on the back of donor power in the UK.”

Ben Rhodes, former deputy national security adviser under President Obama, says that he had to meet with Israel lobbyists as much as all other interest groups combined; that these lobbyists were a tiny segment of the American Jewish community, the same 10 to 20 individuals; they invariably took the position of the Israeli government; and were apparently scripted by the Israelis in some cases … The Israel lobby’s access was reinforced by compliant media and Congress, with members of Congress at times warning Rhodes about the “acute” financial threat of taking on the lobby … Today it is no coincidence that the top three officials in the Biden State Department — Tony Blinken, Wendy Sherman and Victoria Nuland — are all Jewish. These appointments are meant to reassure the Israel lobby of Biden’s support.

A Canada-based author and commentator has attributed the recent shutdown of [Iran’s] Press TV’s Facebook page to pressure being exerted on the US-based social media platform by the pro-Israel lobby and others in Washington to suppress pro-Palestinian positions … The remarks came after Facebook once again and permanently shut down the page of Press TV on Friday in yet another attack by the giant American firm against Iranian media outlets … Press TV has repeatedly fallen victim to censorship not just on Facebook but on multiple platforms, including Twitter and Instagram besides Google and its services.

Algorithms, artificial intelligence programs controlled by Big Tech companies including Google, Facebook and Twitter – corporations with no commitment to ethical journalism – are the new gatekeepers. More and more, proprietary algorithms rather than newsroom editors determine which news stories circulate widely … Incidents such as YouTube’s wholesale removal of the media literacy conference videos are not isolated; in fact, they are increasingly common as privately-owned companies and their media platforms wield ever more power to regulate who speaks online and the types of speech that are permissible … Search engines and social media feeds are not neutral information sources. The algorithms that drive them often serve to reproduce existing inequalities in subtle but powerful ways.

A Polish lecturer who said that Jews had practiced “ritual murders” will not be reprimanded because his claims are the subject of “scientific discourse,” the university that employs him said. An internal ethics panel made the decision not to take disciplinary action against Tadeusz Guz, a priest and faculty member at the Catholic University of Lublin, for a second time after again reviewing complaints over a 2018 speech he gave in Warsaw. “We know, ladies and gentlemen, that the facts of ritual murder cannot be erased from history. Why? Because we, the Polish state, in our archives, in the surviving documents, have evidence spread across centuries when Jews lived together with our Polish nation,” he said.

High-stakes global drama is unfolding on the seabed beneath the frigid waters of the Baltic Sea. It is shaping up as the biggest clash between Europe and the United States since the end of World War II … European countries are steadily less subservient to Washington. They see their future elsewhere … Gas, however, is not Washington’s true concern. What we really fear is that Germany, the most powerful country in Europe, may one day make its peace with Russia. That would clash with American policy, which is based on the premise that Russia is a threatening enemy and must be resolutely confronted. Germany, it follows, must be brought back into line … Europeans are seeking stronger ties to Russia and China, often against Washington’s will. They sense that their future partners will be in Eurasia rather than across the Atlantic.

… For several reasons, President Biden’s March 16 denunciation of Putin as a “killer” without a soul ranks among the dumbest utterances ever by an American leader – and that’s a crowded field. To begin with, heads of state do not insult each other this way, except in wartime … Western Europe is determined to improve its relations with Russia. Biden’s outburst will persuade Paris and Berlin that this administration is as loopy as the last one … Apart from Biden’s ABC interview, the nomination of Victoria Nuland as undersecretary of state for political affairs has sent an unmistakable signal to Moscow and, more importantly, to America’s European allies … Moscow (and Paris and Berlin) will read the reinstatement of Nuland as well as Biden’s public denunciation of Putin as signs that Washington really believes in regime change in Moscow.

… Quite obviously, the Germans do not see Putin’s Russia as the military threat it was in the Cold War. And Berlin has come to believe that, even if it falls short of its commitments to spend more on defense, the Americans are bluffing. They are not going to leave Europe or NATO. Why are the Germans not wrong to conclude this? Because being the “last superpower,” “the leader of the free world,” the “indispensable nation,” the architect of the “rules-based international order” created by the World War II generation of Harry Truman, Dean Acheson, George Marshall and the rest, is how we define ourselves and our mission to mankind. We can’t let go, because this is who we are and what we do.

Tucker Carlson, a popular Fox News host, defended a white supremacist conspiracy theory on the cable network, spurring the head of the Anti-Defamation League to tweet “Tucker Must Go.” Appearing Thursday on “Fox News Primetime,” Carlson said Democrats are coordinating a “replacement” of current US voters with immigrants from the “Third World.” … Anti-extremism watchdogs said Carlson’s comments echo an idea popular among white supremacists that has inspired multiple anti-Semitic and extremist attacks. White supremacists falsely claim that Jews are orchestrating a so-called “Great Replacement” of the largely white populations in Western countries with nonwhite immigrants.

A baleful silence attends one of the most talked-about figures in British history. You may enthuse endlessly about Winston Churchill “single-handedly” defeating Hitler. But mention his views on race or his colonial policies, and you’ll be instantly drowned in ferocious and orchestrated vitriol. In a sea of fawningly reverential Churchill biographies, hardly any books seriously examine his documented racism. Nothing, it seems, can be allowed to complicate, let alone tarnish, the national myth of a flawless hero … Churchill is on record as praising “Aryan stock” and insisting it was right for “a stronger race, a higher-grade race” to take the place of indigenous peoples … He insisted that Britain and the US shared “Anglo-Saxon superiority”.

Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorations are by their nature calls for accountability for atrocities past and present. Antony Blinken, the US secretary of state, used the occasion to take his own department to task for its neglect of Jews during the Nazi era, and to call for action on behalf of the persecuted today. Blinken, delivering the keynote address Thursday at the event organized by the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, savaged the World War II-era assistant secretary of state, Breckinridge Long, for blocking the entry into the United States of Jews fleeing Nazi Europe, and for lying to Congress about it … Also delivering remarks for Holocaust Remembrance Day was Jill Biden, the first lady, who recorded a video address for the Jewish Federations of North America.

The 2021 Forbes list of the world’s billionaires and richest people, published Tuesday, shows an unprecedented surge in wealth among global tycoons during the coronavirus pandemic, with an Israeli-American woman who wasn’t even on the list last year becoming the wealthiest new billionaire in the world. Miriam Adelson, the widow of casino mogul and GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson, who died in January, inherited most of the latter’s fortune and leaped to a net worth of $38.2 billion, becoming the richest Israeli, fifth-richest woman and 36th-richest person in the world. She overtook Russian-Israeli oligarch Roman Abramovich, the Chelsea soccer club owner who became a citizen of the Jewish state several years ago and had been the wealthiest Israeli national … In total, there are now 28 Israel billionaires.

Alison Chabloz first came to our attention in 2015 as an unremarkable musician with a remarkable compulsion to promote Holocaust-denial. One of the most virulent anti-semites to have appeared on the Campaign Against Antisemitism’s radar, this self-professed “patriot” routinely wonders aloud whether the wrong side won World War II, believes Nazi Germany has been falsely vilified, and enthusiastically shares videos that exonerate Hitler … We decided enough was enough. We assembled an expert pro bono legal team led by renowned QC Jonathan Goldberg, and began a private prosecution charging Chabloz with three offences under the Communications Act … Meanwhile at CAA, we continue our work to defend the Jewish community.

… US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who was a chief architect of the US-backed coup against Ukraine in 2014, continued egging on the Ukrainians, promising full US support for the “territorial integrity” of Ukraine. Many Americans wonder why they are not even half as concerned about the territorial integrity of the United States! … Why is it any of our business whether Crimea is part of Ukraine or part of Russia? Why is it any of our business if the Russian-speaking population of eastern Ukraine prefer being aligned with Russia? Why, for that matter, are unproven allegations of Russian meddling in our elections a violation of the “rules-based international order” but an actual US-backed coup against an elected Ukrainian government is not?

… The more serious issue is, of course, that the United States of America portrays itself as a nation that engages only in “just wars” and which has a military that is under control and responsive to an elected and accountable civilian government. As Afghanistan and Syria demonstrate, those conceits have been unsustainable since the US went on a global dominance spree when it launched its War on Terror in 2001. All indications are that the Pentagon will be able to maneuver more effectively in Washington than on the battlefield. It will continue to have its pointless wars, and its bloated “defense” budgets.

… Though Ukraine is not a member of NATO, and we have no treaty obligation to fight in its defense, this comes close to a war guarantee. Biden seems to be saying that if it comes to a shooting war between Moscow and Kiev, we will be there on the side of Kiev … As for the U.S., does the present foggy ambiguity as to what we may or may not do as China goes about asserting its claims serve our vital interests in avoiding war with the greatest power on the largest continent on earth? If red lines are to be laid down, they ought to be laid down by the one constitutional body with the authority to authorize or declare war — Congress. And questions need to be answered to avoid the kinds of miscalculations that led to horrific world wars in the 20th century.

John Tyler, born in 1790, was the tenth US President. As of January 2021, he had a living grandson, Harrison Ruffin Tyler, who was born in 1928. This CBS News report includes an interview with the grandson at the Tyler family home in Virginia. John Tyler fathered 15 children, more than any other American president. Eight were born of his first wife, and seven were from his second wife, Julia Gardiner Tyler. She married her husband, who was 30 years older, in 1844, while he was serving as President.

More than 80 years after Nazi Germany enacted what came to be known as the Nuremberg Race Laws, Israeli legislators voted in favour of the so-called “nation-state law.” By doing so, they essentially codified “Jewish supremacy” into law, which effectively mirrors the Nazi-era legislation of ethnoreligious stratification of German citizenry. Israel’s “nation-state law” [2019] stipulates in its first clause that “actualisation of the right of national self-determination in the state of Israel is unique to the Jewish people” … In similar fashion, the first of the Nuremberg Laws, the Reich Citizenship Law, deemed citizenship a privilege exclusive to people of “German or kindred blood”. The remainder were classed as state subjects, without citizenship rights.

A little-known chapter of history is the wide-ranging collaboration between Zionism and Hitler’s Third Reich. During the 1930s, Jewish Zionists and German National Socialists shared similar views on how to deal with the “Jewish Question.” They agreed that Jews and Germans were distinctly different nationalities, and that Jews did not belong in Germany. During the 1930s no nation did more to substantively further Jewish-Zionist goals than Hitler’s Germany.

Until a week ago, I was a tenure-track assistant professor at a small college. Then I was fired. And although I am but one professor at one small college in one small town, I want to persuade you that, if you care about free speech and free inquiry in academia, you should be alarmed by my termination. My troubles began in October 2019 … The professors had found my RationalWiki entry, which accuses me — inter alia — of writing “racist bullshit for the right-wing online magazine Quillette.” … Shortly after my talk, the student newspaper published a clearly slanted article about the event that casually quoted anonymous criticism that my work “resembles the pseudoscience employed by eugenicists.”

It’s one thing not to like members of the opposite political party, but it’s quite another to think they’re malicious and diabolical. And yet a recent survey of college students found that nearly 40 percent of each political party thinks of the other as “basically evil.” The recent [March 2020] College Fix online survey asked 1,000 college students whether members of the opposite political party “are not just worse for politics — they are basically evil.” It found that 37 percent of Democratic students think Republicans are essentially evil, and 39 percent of Republican students think the same of Democrats. These results closely mirror the findings of a set of national polls of Americans taken in recent years that asked an almost identical question. Those results found that roughly 42 percent of each party viewed the opposition as “downright evil.”

The Pentagon recently asked Congress for an astronomical $27 billion budget increase to support a massive military buildup in Asia as part of its new Indo-Pacific plan, which calls for a substantially more aggressive military stance against China. With the US already ranking first in military spending worldwide and holding more than 290 military bases in the Asia-Pacific region alone, this aggressive buildup is being proposed at the most financially precarious moment in US history … How can the Biden administration sell such an expensive foreign policy proposal to the American public in these economically depressed times? By publicly stoking moral outrage and militarism in the US – as well as throughout the Asia-Pacific region – in the name of launching a crusade ostensibly in defense of human rights.

During the 2020 presidential election, pro-Israel Political Action Committees (PACs) provided Biden with $3,830,209, compared to $955,174 for Donald Trump—indicating that Biden’s vote on the Arab-Israeli conflict has indeed been bought—as it has been for many years. The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), a Jewish lobby group that promotes Democratic Party candidates, proclaimed that “no candidate for president in either party has ever run with as long and as strong of a pro-Israel record as Joe Biden.” … Biden was considered “the best friend of Israel in the [Obama] administration,” according to Chuck Schumer (D-NY), helping to secure what Netanyahu termed “unprecedented security assistance.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday warned that anti-white racism might be building in the United States and said that political correctness “taken to the extreme” would have lamentable consequences. In an interview with political scientists broadcast on national television, Moscow’s top diplomat … stressed it was important “not to switch to the other extreme which we saw during the ‘BLM’ (Black Lives Matter) events and the aggression against white people, white U.S. citizens.” … Lavrov accused the United States of seeking to spread what he called “a cultural revolution” around the world … “Hollywood is now also changing its rules so that everything reflects the diversity of modern society,” he said, calling that “a form of censorship.” … “You see this is absurd. Political correctness taken to the point of absurdity will not end well.”

American Jewish Committee and the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) announced on Monday that more than 525 mayors across the United States have joined their national effort to combat anti-Semitism. The two organizations are calling on mayors across the country to sign a statement declaring that anti-Semitism is incompatible with fundamental democratic values … As part of signing the pledge, the mayors agree to condemn anti-Semitism in all its forms, including hatred and prejudice directed towards Jews; stereotypes or conspiracy theories about Jews; Holocaust denial or distortion; and anti-Israel animus that crosses a line to target Jews or deny the Jewish state’s right to exist. Additionally, the mayors also will support national, state and local efforts to eradicate anti-Semitism …

A British presentation of the Allied aerial assault on Hamburg in late July 1943. The British-American “Operation Gomorrah” bombings killed 42,600 civilians and wounded 37,000. It created a 1,500-foot-high tornado of fire, a firestorm. A million civilians fled the city. This was an example of Allied “area bombing,” which targeted for death all Germans — including all women and children. Those who have followed developments in the Middle East would likely agree that Israel covers up its war crimes and other human rights violations by regularly invoking its own victimhood. Whether the subject is U.S. aid to the Jewish state or media coverage of the illegal expansion of Israel into the West Bank, one will always find references to the so-called holocaust or claims of anti-Semitism to discredit any criticism. And the results of this assiduous effort to assign guilt are clearly seen as the mainstream media in both the United States and Europe exhibits considerable reluctance to report honestly on what is being done to the Palestinians while politicians in the west sometimes appear to count themselves more as “friends of Israel” than as representatives advancing the interests of their own constituents.

… This entirely cynical approach to Palestinian statehood was very belatedly blown apart this week with the publication of a report by B’Tselem, Israel’s most prominent and respected human rights group. It broke ranks to declare what has been obvious for many, many years. Israel has created a permanent reality in which there are two peoples, Jews and Palestinians, sharing the same territorial space, but “a regime of Jewish supremacy” has been imposed by the stronger side. This unequivocally qualifies as apartheid, B’Tselem said … Israel’s “Jewish supremacist ideology” is revealed in its obsession with “Judaising” land, in its bifurcated citizenship laws and policies that privilege Jews alone, in its regulations that restrict movement for Palestinians only, and in its denial of political participation to Palestinians.

The news from the four elections inside two years in Israel is that there is little ideological debate in the country … Palestinians don’t count. There are of course roughly equal populations of Jews and Palestinians under Israeli governance, between the river and the sea, nearly 7 million each, but the Palestinians enjoy second-class political rights in Israel, and none at all in the West Bank and Gaza. Israel made this arrangement official in its Nation State Law of 2018, which said that Jews have the exclusive right of self-determination in the land of Israel, with higher language and land rights … Israel surely has a robust democracy among its Jewish parties, but the contempt for Palestinian opinion among Jewish pols is pervasive and disturbing.

… Whereas Israelis travel freely across Israel and its West Bank settlements, Palestinians within the occupied territory live under separate jurisdictions, requiring Israeli permits to cross from the unannexed parts of the West Bank to annexed Jerusalem, Gaza, or the more than 30 per cent of the West Bank that is off limits to Palestinians: … Israel has seized more than three-quarters of the land of its Palestinian citizens. This expropriation is a continuous project, particularly in the Negev and Galilee, but most of it took place, as in the West Bank today, while Palestinians were under military rule. In the seven decades of Israel’s existence, there have been only six months, in 1966-67, when it did not place members of one ethnic group under military government while it confiscated their land.

The United Nations Human Rights Council on Tuesday passed a resolution critical of Israel with an overwhelming majority, with France, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy all supporting the motion … It was adopted by a vote of 22 to 6, with 8 abstentions … The countries that voted against the motion were Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Malawi and Togo. Additionally, the watchdog noted that India shifted from a “yes” vote last year to abstaining on Tuesday. Denmark, Japan, Mexico, Poland, South Korea and Uruguay also voted in support of the resolution, which expressed “grave concern at reports of serious human rights violations and grave breaches of international humanitarian law, including of possible war crimes and crimes against humanity, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.”

In a landmark decision, a UK court has sentenced an anti-Semite to 18 weeks in prison for disseminating grossly offensive material and messages on social media denying the Holocaust. The sentencing makes Alison Chabloz the first person in the UK to be jailed specifically for Holocaust denial, under the terms of the 2003 Communications Act … Chabloz was convicted by Westminster Magistrates’ Court, and sentenced on Wednesday by District Judge Michael Snow to 18 weeks in prison, of which she will serve nine. Chabloz, 57, was convicted for comments she made in an interview with a far-right online radio station in 2019 … Snow ruled that the Jewish community needs to be protected, and that Chabloz’s comments were grossly offensive.

… Are we Americans really the champions of the democracy camp in a great twilight struggle with “autocracy”? … While China’s growth in real and relative power and prosperity in the decades since Tiananmen Square in 1989 has been epochal, the politics of the USA seem to have grown more poisonous, and the racial divisions more rancorous … Perhaps our greatest Chief Justice John Marshall said, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.” … By the end of a long life, Thomas Jefferson concluded: “A Democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51% of the people may take away the rights of the other 49%.” Democracy and autocracy — of which monarchies and dictatorships are examples — are forms of government, not objects of worship.

The recent economic and security cooperation agreement signed by Iran and China will have far reaching consequences for geopolitics in the Middle East. For certain, U.S.-led effort to contain Iran regionally and strangle it financially surely pushed both countries in this direction … While the terms of the deal have yet to be released, it purports to provide a steady and stable flow of Iranian oil to China in return for much needed investments in Iran’s critical infrastructure — from ports to high-speed rail, to energy and petrochemicals … In fact, evidence suggests Iran’s economy is becoming more resilient: the IMF projects Iran’s economy to grow at 3.2 percent in 2021.

… While cyberterrorism ranks atop a list of 11 potential threats to the U.S., the development of nuclear weapons by North Korea and by Iran are not far behind, with 77% and 75% of U.S. adults, respectively, considering them to be critical threats. Four other matters are likewise viewed as critical threats by majorities in the U.S.: international terrorism (72%), the spread of infectious diseases throughout the world (72%), China’s economic power (63%), and global warming or climate change (58%). Forty-six percent of Americans view large numbers of immigrants trying to enter the U.S. as a critical threat to the country … The 63% of Americans who say China’s economic power is a critical threat marks a new high and an increase from 46% in 2019. This comes as Americans now perceive China as the greatest enemy of the U.S.

Iran is the third most critical threat to the United States because of its nuclear program, according to a Gallup public opinion poll of American attitudes about foreign policy. But only four percent view Iran as the “greatest enemy” of the United States, down from 19 percent in 2020. The decrease reflected the shift of focus to China. Americans broadly dislike the Islamic Republic, Gallup’s 2021 World Affairs Survey reported … Three-quarters of respondents – 75 percent – say that the possibility of an Iranian nuclear weapons program poses a “critical threat” to vital U.S. interests … Senior Iranian leaders did not appear to have made the political decision to acquire a nuclear weapon.

German prosecutors said on Wednesday that they closed an investigation of a 95- year- old former Nazi concentration camp guard who was deported from the United States. Last month, Friedrich Karl B. arrived on a medical transport plane at Frankfurt Airport after a US court ordered his expulsion over alleged compliance with Nazi-sponsored persecution in 1945. Upon his arrival, prosecutors in the northern town of Celle said he was willing to be questioned with a defense lawyer present. They had previously halted a probe of the same man citing a lack of evidence. Prosecutors said they closed the case against Friedrich again “after exhausting all evidence,” citing a lack of sufficient grounds for suspicion.
