A senior Army official ordered Army libraries, including West Point, to remove all books “with the explicit and sole purpose of directly and overtly promoting DEI, gender ideology, and critical race theory in a manner that subverts meritocracy and unity,” according to a memo sent last week by acting Assistant Secretary of the Army Derrick Anderson … Since the memo was sent by Assistant Secretary Anderson, however, all Army libraries were told this week to only “flag” rather than remove any books, said a U.S. official not authorized to speak publicly, adding that a final decision for removing books will be made by top Army officials … The move by West Point comes after the U.S. Naval Academy removed nearly 400 books from the Nimitz Library over similar concerns from Trump Administration officials.

Crime police statistics were published last week for 2024, which showed that not only violent crime had reached record highs in Germany, but that foreigners account for a record share of that violent crime. However, the question now is how do Germans feel in terms of security? The new poll, commissioned by Bild and conducted by Insa shows that Germans feel increasingly unsafe in their country. In fact, a majority of them now believe the police have lost control, which tracks with a steadily declining sense of security over the last years … The poll also shows that 55 percent believe police have lost control, while only 39 percent believe police are able to ensure security in Germany. Thirty percent of respondents say that they, a friend, or a family member have been a victim of crime.

Antisemitic incidents in the United States rose for the fourth consecutive year in 2024, hitting their highest level since the Anti-Defamation League started tracking them in 1979, according to the organization’s annual audit released Tuesday. The audit identified 9,354 cases of assault, harassment, and vandalism in 2024, marking a five percent increase from 2023, when the ADL recorded 8,873 incidents, and a 344% surge over the past five years. The record-breaking number is based on incidents reported by victims, the media, law enforcement, and partner groups, according to the ADL. The majority of the incidents in 2024 — 6,552 — were classified as harassment …

In the last decade, a profound shift has taken place in global academia that has fundamentally altered the hierarchy of scientific research. China, once considered a peripheral player in cutting-edge science, has now ascended to the forefront of academic excellence. The latest Nature Index rankings reveal an astonishing trend: nine of the world’s top ten research institutions are now Chinese, with Harvard University being the sole Western presence in the upper echelon … China’s transformation into a research powerhouse has not happened by chance. It is the result of deliberate policy decisions, substantial financial investment, and systemic reforms aimed at enhancing academic quality.

… With or without the “reciprocal” tariffs, the US will not reindustrialize and bring manufacturing jobs back in any meaningful manner, anytime soon. This is because the tariff policy will not address the real root cause of US’s economic problems today. Deindustrialization is a result of decades of financialization, profit-driven outsourcing, poor domestic infrastructure and education, overregulation, and shareholder-first short-term focused neoliberal economic practices … Today’s US is a high cost economy. Its infrastructure from roads, bridges, ports, to railways are crumbling and not capable to support large scale industrial production. Its labor force is poorly skilled and not trained to carry out high end high tech manufacturing.

British authorities have barred a far-right French writer from visiting the UK, his publisher told AFP on Friday. Renaud Camus was set to give a speech at a hard-right political party event in Britain next week, but officials turned down his request for a travel permit, his English-language publisher Vauban Books said. The publisher said the UK’s interior ministry told Camus his presence in the UK was not considered “conducive to the public good”, though the ministry has not commented. Camus is known for his 2011 book “The Great Replacement” and its conspiratorial argument that white Europeans are being deliberately supplanted by non-white immigrants.

Mark Weber, an American historian and director of the Institute for Historical Review, was banned from Britain in April 2015 by order of Theresa May, who later became the country’s Prime Minister. The decision to ban him was “taken personally” by May while she was serving as Home Secretary … The Home Office finally … accepted that the reasons for the 2015 exclusion order were insufficient, but cited new justifications to support a continued ban … Weber explained in some detail just why the new examples of allegedly “unacceptable behavior” presented by the agency to justify a continued ban against him “lack any reasonable basis in fact,” are “weak, unconvincing or irrelevant,” and are “applied in an arbitrary way.” … May has been one of the most ardently pro-Zionist political figures in modern British history.

• Months after Hitler’s death and the unequivocal defeat of Germany in World War II, one German community was still free of stringent occupation by the victorious Allied powers.  It was the German community in Shanghai, China. In August 1945, this community of some 4,500 held open elections in which “Nazi” (National Socialist), non-Nazi, and anti-Hitler candidates all freely campaigned for support. … Israeli soldiers have posted videos on Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube showcasing their activities in Gaza, using their own names, often with details of when and where the incidents depicted have taken place. But what may have been intended as bravado has become a damning digital dossier. The behaviour displayed in the photos and videos ranges from crass jokes and soldiers rifling through women’s underwear drawers to what appears to be the killings of unarmed civilians … unlike past conflicts in which war crimes were investigated after the fact, here, the perpetrators are providing contemporaneous evidence of their own actions. Footage clearly documents violations of international law, such as the destruction of civilian infrastructure, looting, targeting of civilians and inhumane war tactics.

President Donald Trump has selected a new special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism, elevating a Miami businessman and fundraiser named Yehuda Kaploun to the role. “Yehuda is a successful businessman, and staunch advocate for the Jewish Faith and the Rights of his people to live and worship free from persecution,” Trump said on Truth Social, announcing his selection … Trump’s announcement elicited a wave of sharply antisemitic comments on the social network, which Trump owns and is favored by his supporters … Kaploun is affiliated with Chabad, the Orthodox movement, and was a fundraiser and surrogate for Trump during last year’s campaign … The role, which requires Senate confirmation and was elevated in recent years to the ambassador level, is the United States’ top position related to fighting antisemitism …

Sweden has seen massive demographic changes over the last 25 years, and this is not only reflected in the demographic composition, but also the religious composition of the country. While churches continue to close their doors, the country went from approximately seven mosques in 2000 to now 300 in 2025 … As in other European countries, many of these mosques receive funding from abroad, and overall, the finances behind many of them remain murky. “In several cases, Swedish mosque construction has been partially or completely financed with money from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar or Turkey. In the case of Saudi Arabia alone, there is talk of billions.” … More and more mosques are in the pipeline as well, with construction taking place across the country.

… America’s savings rate has collapsed to 0.6 percent of GDP. The US treasury depends on foreign investors to fund a national debt rising higher than ever before, already 122 percent of GDP with a structural fiscal deficit of 6 to 7 percent as far as the eye can see … So, who suffers most political stress from a total and violent economic decoupling? … The rational policy for the US is to build up its own processing industry over the next decade, and to contract long-term supply from the likes of Canada and Australia. Instead, Trump has punched allies in the face, and launched his war with China before the US is ready for the consequences. He has the sequencing entirely backwards.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) – an influential organization known for “fighting racism” – recently issued a strangely deceitful and evasive statement, “Black. Jewish. Divided by Hate. Stronger Together,” about the Leo Frank murder case, an important episode of American history that has been in the news in recent weeks … The two authors of the SPLC statement contend that both Frank and Conley were “scapegoat” victims of a “racist system” of “white supremacy.” The SPLC writers make no mention of Mary Phagan, the actual murder victim. If both Frank and Conley were innocent, as the SPLC suggests, readers might wonder just what the trial was all about. The authors of this SPLC polemic don’t even try to explain.

I have long been reluctant to use the phrase “anti-white racism”. It is a term I have worried might fuel a grievance narrative and foster resentment in an already crowded field of competitive victimhood. But as time passes, it is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore what looks like a growing pattern of institutional discrimination against white Britons … It is a new kind of racial ranking, uncomfortably reminiscent of apartheid-era thinking, made socially acceptable only because those placed at the bottom are white. This is not an isolated incident either … In the name of fighting racism, we are instead fuelling it. Overtly discriminatory policies, however well-intentioned, hand the genuine far-Right an easy and increasingly valid argument: that white people are now being treated less favourably than other groups.

Almost 47 percent of all crime suspects in Austria last year were non-Austrian, according to newly released police statistics for 2024. A total of 335,911 suspects were investigated, with the largest groups of foreign nationals coming from Romania, Germany, and Syria. Syrian suspects alone saw the steepest increase, rising nearly 30 percent compared to the previous year. Figures pertaining to German suspects are often skewed, given the fact that naturalized foreign-born nationals are categorized as German in crime reports. Similarly, naturalized foreigners living in Austria will not be included in the “foreign” category, suggesting the number of foreign-born suspects is likely to be much higher than 47 percent.

President Trump on Monday suggested that Iran was slow-walking talks with the US and repeated his threat of military action if a deal on Tehran’s nuclear program isn’t reached … Iran has made clear that it’s willing to reaffirm its pledge that it doesn’t seek nuclear weapons, and US intelligence agencies recently said in their annual threat assessment there’s no evidence that Tehran is building a nuclear bomb, or that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has reversed his 2003 fatwah that banned the production of weapons of mass destruction. Despite the conclusion from US intelligence agencies, Trump has repeatedly threatened to bomb Iran if a deal isn’t reached on its nuclear program. “If we have to do something very harsh, we’ll do it,” he said.

Millions of people around the world were at the edge of their seats over the weekend, waiting to hear whether Trump special envoy Steve Witkoff’s indirect talks with the Iranian foreign minister would ratchet down tensions or would break down and bring on a major Middle East war … When wars can be started by presidents with no authority granted by Congress, the results can be the kinds of endless military engagements with ever-shifting, unachievable objectives such as we’ve seen in Afghanistan and Iraq … Starting a war with Iran was the furthest thing from the minds of American voters last November, and certainly those who voted for Donald Trump were at least partly motivated by his promise to end current wars and start no new wars.

Facing a deadline from an immigration judge to turn over evidence for its attempted deportation of Columbia University activist Mahmoud Khalil, the federal government has instead submitted a brief memo, signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, citing the Trump administration’s authority to expel noncitizens whose presence in the country damages U.S. foreign policy interests. The two-page memo, which was obtained by The Associated Press, does not allege any criminal conduct by Khalil, a legal permanent U.S. resident and graduate student who served as spokesperson for campus activists last year during large demonstrations against Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and the war in Gaza. Rather, Rubio wrote Khalil could be expelled for his beliefs.

Though the November 26 ceasefire was meant to end the Israeli invasion and occupation of Lebanese territory, Israeli troops never completely left. On Monday, they expanded that occupation once again, pushing deeper into the Marjayoun District. Israeli troops and civilian administrators advanced along the river near the village of Wazzani. They also reportedly advanced further west and opened fire on people on the outskirts of Ayta ash-Shaab, and conducted “search operations” in the area … This is just another of well over 1,400 ceasefire violations which Lebanon has reported to the enforcement body … Besides the new advancement of ground troops, Israeli forces have continued to carry out airstrikes on a near daily basis.

A new survey has found that Americans across age groups and party lines feel less favorably toward Israel than they did before October 7, 2023, and over half don’t trust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to do the right thing. The survey by the Pew Research Center found that 53% of Americans overall have an unfavorable view of Israel, compared to 42% in 2022. Among Republicans, 37% view Israel unfavorably, compared to 27% in 2022; 69% of Democrats view Israel unfavorably, compared to 53% in 2022. Young people in both parties have relatively high unfavorables toward Israel: 50% of Republicans under 49, and 71% of Democrats in that age group view Israel unfavorably. Pew also found that most Americans don’t want the United States to take over the war-ravaged Gaza Strip for real estate development …

• … Donald Trump is the first US President since World War Two to challenge the role that his country set for itself many decades ago. And he is doing this in such a way that, to many, the old world order appears to be over – and the new world order has yet to take shape … According to polling by the French company Institut Elabe, nearly three quarters of French people now think that the United States is not an ally of France. A majority in Britain, and a very large majority in Denmark, both historically pro-American countries, now have unfavourable views of the United States as well … The guarantee of US help can no longer be taken for granted. That means Europe has to react. Its challenge appears to be to stay united, finally make good on funding its own defence, and avoid being drawn into the “sphere of influence” of any of the big powers.

A MintPress News investigation has found hundreds of former employees of Israel lobbying groups such as AIPAC, StandWithUs and CAMERA working in top newsrooms across the country, writing and producing America’s news – including on Israel-Palestine. These outlets include MSNBC, The New York Times, CNN and Fox News. Some of these former lobbyists are responsible for producing content on Israel and Palestine – a gigantic and undisclosed conflict of interest. Many key U.S. newsroom staff were also formerly Israeli spies or intelligence agents … The ADL has, for decades, spied on progressive American groups, including the AFL-CIO, Greenpeace, the United Farmworkers, and a host of left-wing Jewish groups. It also secretly passed much of this research onto the Israeli government …

The prime minister of Singapore speaks bluntly about the consequences of President Trump’s drastic change in world trading patterns. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has announced it will begin screening immigrants’ social media for evidence of antisemitic activity as grounds for denying immigration benefit requests. The screenings will affect people applying for permanent residence status as well as foreigners affiliated with educational institutions. The policy will go into effect immediately. In a statement issued Wednesday morning, the Department of Homeland Security said it will “protect the homeland from extremists and terrorist aliens, including those who support antisemitic terrorism, violent antisemitic ideologies and antisemitic terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, or [the Houthis].”

Ireland’s tiny Jewish community fears that growing anti-Israel hostility since the start of the Gaza war is leading to increased anti-Semitism, raising questions about their future in the EU country. Ireland has been among the most outspoken critics of Israel’s response to the October 7, 2023 attacks on southern Israel by Hamas militants that sparked the war in Gaza. Polls since the start of the war have shown overwhelming pro-Palestinian sympathy in Ireland. A survey in June by the news site The Journal found that 76 percent of Irish people believed the EU should impose economic trade sanctions on Israel over the conflict. Protesters at rallies in Dublin told AFP they feel empathy with Palestinians due to Ireland’s centuries-long history resisting British rule.

The Anti-Defamation League has fashioned itself as the “leading anti-hate organization in the world.” But these days, it appears to be focused mostly on fighting antisemitism specifically. Beginning in 2023, it phased out its signature anti-hate educational program, A World of Difference Institute, without formally announcing it … Updates to its educational offerings that reflect a focus on antisemitism are also on its website … In the wake of the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and the ensuing war in Gaza, the ADL appears to have shifted its focus. In addition to tracking antisemitism, it has become increasingly vocal in championing Israel. ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt has repeatedly said that anti-Zionism is antisemitism … The ADL has also endorsed crushing pro-Palestinian student protests against Israel’s war in Gaza.

… These videos seem to be everywhere in the past year: [Israeli] soldiers abusing, looting and smashing, all with big smiles. On Friday, Al Jazeera aired a comprehensive investigative report about war crimes committed by the IDF [Israel armed forces] in Gaza, which is full of material posted by the soldiers themselves. Most of the report deals with more horrific crimes, from mass starvation to the shooting of children, but these videos are especially shocking: the visible faces make the violence more intimate, and the giggles testify to a sadistic pleasure that is hard to deny.

Earlier this month, Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit published a documentary documenting Israel’s systematic use of indiscriminate attacks during its ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip. A remarkable feature of the investigation is that, to document Israel’s war crimes, it largely relies on evidence published on social media by Israeli soldiers or the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) itself. War crimes documented in the video include wanton destruction, abuse of Palestinian detainees including torture, and the use of Palestinian civilians as human shields by Israeli forces.

The Institute for Historical Review is mailing an important book, The Leo Frank Case: The Lynching of a Guilty Man, along with a cover letter, to all 236 members of the Georgia State legislature. This public service educational project is meant to correct erroneous but widely accepted claims about the most enduringly significant criminal case ever tried in the state. For years, the Anti-Defamation League and other influential Zionist organizations, with support from the mainstream media, have claimed that Leo Frank – a prominent figure in the Atlanta Jewish community – was unjustly accused and convicted of murdering Mary Phagan, a 13-year-old worker at the factory where he was the manager. For any open-minded person, The Leo Frank Caseconvincingly establishes that Frank was indeed guilty of the crime.

About a week ago both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal devoted considerable space to the coverage of “Parade,” the revival of a 1998 Broadway musical on the 1915 killing of Leo Frank, a Jewish factory manager in Atlanta, Georgia, arguably the most famous lynching in American history. Frank had been convicted and sentenced to death for the rape and murder of a young girl in his employ and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was founded in an effort to save his life. Even the kids in America’s fittest state are too fat to fight their nation’s wars, a pro-military nonprofit argues in a new study. A majority of people in seven countries believe a mass genocide against Jewish people similar to the Holocaust could happen today, according to a survey published by The Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany. The report — which surveyed people in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Austria, Germany, Poland, Hungary and Romania — also exposed a global trend of fading knowledge of basic facts about the Holocaust, the Claims Conference said.
